BECOME: Who You’re Meant to Be

We all want to change. To grow. To become better versions of ourselves. But no matter how many books we read or goals we set, something always feels missing. We fix habits, polish our image, chase progress—but the heart still hungers.
That’s because becoming isn’t about self-improvement. It’s about transformation.
And transformation doesn’t come from trying harder. It comes from being changed by Jesus.
Transformation Begins With Surrender
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
The world says, “Change yourself.”
The gospel says, “Surrender yourself.”
We don’t become like Christ by adding a little religion to our routine. We become like Him when we yield our hearts to His Spirit every single day.
Discipleship is not behavior modification—it’s heart renovation. It’s letting God shape your desires, not just your decisions.
And that shaping can hurt sometimes. Because to become like Jesus means dying to the parts of us that resist Him.
The Cost of Becoming
When Jesus called His disciples, He didn’t say, “Come, succeed.”
He said, “Come, follow Me.”
Becoming is not glamorous. It’s messy, humbling, slow. It’s learning to forgive when you’d rather stay bitter, to serve when no one notices, to love when it’s not returned.
But this is how the Spirit forms Christ in us—through the ordinary obedience of everyday life.
Not in one big moment, but in a thousand small “yeses.”
Story: From Striving to Surrender
A young man once told me, “I’ve been a Christian for years, but I don’t feel any different.”
I asked him, “Who’s been doing the changing—you or God?”
He paused. And then he smiled.
We’re not changed by effort alone. We’re changed by abiding.
When we stay close to Jesus—through His Word, His people, and His presence—He begins to do what we can’t: shape us into His likeness.
That’s why spiritual growth isn’t about speed. It’s about surrender.
A Call to Be Formed
If you’ve been frustrated with your spiritual life, maybe God isn’t asking you to try harder—maybe He’s asking you to stay closer.
Let Him chisel your pride, soften your heart, and renew your mind.
Let Him define who you are becoming, not your past or performance.
The goal of discipleship isn’t perfection. It’s formation—Christ formed in you.
Vision: Become, So the World Will See Christ in You
The third step of the Pathway is BECOME, because the gospel doesn’t just save us from something—it shapes us into someone.
And that “someone” looks more and more like Jesus.
When disciples become like Christ, the world doesn’t just hear about Him—they see Him.
That’s how movements begin. That’s how the Kingdom advances.
Until Christ is known everywhere.
